Malaysian Payment Rails at a Glance

For a DuitNow casino deposit in Malaysia, it helps to know that PayNet describes itself as Malaysia's digital payment backbone, and it runs DuitNow, FPX and Interbank GIRO. PayNet was formed in 2017 through the merger of MEPS and MyClear.

PayNet reports 8.44 billion transactions completed in 2025, and DuitNow QR volume reached 3 billion in 2025. PayNet's personal DuitNow services include Transfer, QR, Request, Online Banking/Wallets, AutoDebit, Cross Border QR Payment and Cross Border Fund Transfer to Singapore.

FPX Deposit Steps and Account Limits

FPX Transaction Steps

  1. To pay with FPX a customer chooses FPX at the merchant's checkout, picks a bank from the list of participating banks, and logs in to internet banking.
  2. After logging in, the FPX customer selects a current, savings or credit card account, approves the payment in the banking app, and is redirected back to the merchant's site.

FPX Settlement Speed and Transaction Ceilings

PayNet says FPX payments are made in seconds, with instant notifications in the banking app, and can be made 24/7 with most participating banks.

FPX limits for personal accounts are RM1.00 to RM30,000 per transaction, and the customer's own bank online transfer limit may be lower.

FPX limits for company or corporate accounts are RM2.00 to RM1,000,000 per transaction.

DuitNow Casino Basics: Proxy IDs and Transfers

DuitNow Proxy Identifiers

A DuitNow ID can be a mobile number, MyKad (NRIC), passport number, army or police number, or, for SSM-registered businesses, a Business Registration Number.

Sending a DuitNow Transfer needs no registration, but receiving needs a one-time registration linking the ID to a bank account or eWallet.

Each DuitNow ID links to only one bank account, although one account can have several IDs registered after the bank verifies them.

DuitNow Transfer Rules and Network Reach

PayNet says DuitNow Transfer moves money instantly and securely, and the payer does not need the recipient's bank account number.

DuitNow Transfers of up to RM5,000 are free, and higher amounts incur a 50 sen fee that many banks may waive.

PayNet says DuitNow Transfer works through internet and mobile banking at 42 Malaysian banks and participating eWallets.

DuitNow Casino Payments: QR Limits and Fees

DuitNow QR Payment Workflow

With DuitNow QR a user opens a banking or eWallet app, scans the QR, enters the amount, checks the details and taps Pay.

DuitNow QR Transaction Limits and Fees

PayNet states users can send up to RM50,000 per transaction with DuitNow QR, and the limit is shared with third-party transfers.

DuitNow QR transfers under RM250 are instant and do not require a password.

PayNet says all DuitNow QR payments are free, but its FAQ adds that fees may apply and vary by bank, eWallet or acquirer.

One DuitNow QR can accept payments from all participating banks, eWallets and third-party providers, including TnG eWallet, GrabPay, Setel and Wise, and the e wallet casino malaysia guide covers wallets in more detail.

Interbank GIRO versus Instant Transfer Processing

Interbank GIRO Processing Times

Interbank GIRO sent before 5:00 am by internet banking or over the counter is received the same business day, and sent after 5:00 pm it arrives the next business day.

Scam and Mule Account Warnings

Penal Code Amendments

The Penal Code amendments added Sections 424A to 424D covering mule accounts, with the offence of letting an account be used for scams carrying up to 10 years in jail. A mule account refers to a bank account used by third parties to channel funds from unlawful activities.

Under Section 424B, handing control of a bank account to another person carries a fine of RM10,000 to RM100,000 or 1 to 7 years in jail, or both.

Police Verification Portals and Procedures

Police run the Semak Mule portal, where anyone can check whether a bank account or phone number has been tied to commercial crime cases.

Police said in January 2024 that 160,095 bank accounts and phone numbers linked to scammers were listed in the Semak Mule database.

Police say they do not settle cases over the phone, and cases are dealt with in person at a police station, court or land office.

DuitNow Request, AutoDebit and cross-border

DuitNow AutoDebit lets a customer authorise recurring or 1-off payments once, through the biller's platform, online banking or an eWallet, and later payments are collected automatically. In a DuitNow Request the requester enters the payer's DuitNow ID, the payer approves the request, and the requester is notified in real time when the payment succeeds.

PayNet states a DuitNow Request daily limit of up to RM50,000, and up to 20 requests can be sent at once. Payer IDs accepted for a DuitNow Request include mobile number, NRIC number, passport number, business registration number for SSM-registered businesses, and bank account number.

DuitNow Cross Border Fund Transfer to Singapore has a daily limit of up to RM3,000 and is instant and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For a DuitNow transfer to Singapore the sender enters a PayNow mobile number or Virtual Payment Address, and DuitNow confirms the first 2 letters of the recipient's name before sending. Live exchange rates are shown before each DuitNow cross-border transfer, so the sender can see the exact amount being sent.

DuitNow casino checkout: online banking and wallets

PayNet says DuitNow Online Banking/Wallets lets customers choose from over 40 banks and eWallets at a merchant's checkout. In DuitNow Online Banking/Wallets the customer clicks checkout, picks a bank or eWallet app, logs in, checks the amount, approves, and is redirected back to the merchant.

DuitNow Online Banking/Wallets accepts current or savings accounts, credit card accounts and eWallets, and PayNet says built-in security checks verify every transaction.
